Important Update: Glastonbury’s New Ticketing System

Glastonbury has announced a new ticketing system for this year, changing how the sale works. Instead of refreshing the page constantly, fans now need to be online before the sale starts at 9 a.m. on ticket day. If you’re logged in on time, you’ll be randomly assigned a place in the queue as soon as the tickets go live. The new system—similar to the one used for high-demand concerts—aims to ease website strain, possibly making the process smoother and faster for everyone.

The automatic queue system has a few key differences. First, refreshing the page will no longer help; you’ll just be placed randomly in line if you’re there on time. Second, Glastonbury’s team warns against using multiple tabs, browsers, or devices as this can trigger anti-bot software and actually harm your chances. So, stick to one device with a single browser tab open. Once you’re in the queue, keep calm and wait—no need to hit refresh.

With this new system, the key to getting Glastonbury tickets is to log in early, be patient, and follow their guidelines. Prepare everything ahead of time, stay logged in, and avoid any activity that could look like bot behavior. 2025 can still be our year. I’ve updated the instructions below to ensure you’re prepared and ready to get Glastonbury tickets for 2025.

How To Get Glastonbury Tickets This Year

Right, we are in this together and we’re gonna make 2025 our year for getting Glastonbury tickets.

If you’re serious about how to get Glastonbury tickets, this year’s automatic queue system changes the game. With around 2.5 million people trying to get a Glastonbury ticket each year, you’re up against some intense competition. But there are ways to maximise chances. Being organized is crucial—especially if you’re aiming to buy tickets for a group. Here, I’ll break down the best approach to make sure everyone has a shot.

Preparation starts early, so don’t wait until ticket day to get organized. Each step here covers what you need to know, from getting registered to setting up group spreadsheets. And yes, it’s worth doing everything on this list! Glastonbury tickets can sell out within half an hour, so follow this guide to give yourself and your group the best shot possible. What are the odds of getting a Glastonbury ticket? No going to lie, they’re low. But this prep will help stack things in your favor. Ready? Let’s go!

Step 1: Register Early and Correctly

The Other Stage - Glastonbury

Before you can even try to buy tickets, you need a valid Glastonbury registration.

Visit the official Glastonbury site and go to “Ticket Info” to start the process. You’ll be asked to upload a passport-style photo, enter your full name, and provide your physical address. This process is required for anyone aged 13 or older, so make sure everyone in your group is registered in advance. After completing registration, you’ll receive a unique registration number—this is essential, as you cannot buy tickets without it.

Make sure you keep a record of each person’s registration number, as it’s easy to mix things up in the rush on sale day.  Also, be aware that the registration deadline is usually a few weeks before tickets go on sale. So don’t leave this until the last minute.

Step 2: Set Up Your Group

One key trick to getting Glastonbury tickets is to try in a group of 6. The ticket system allows you to buy for up to six people at once, so pull together a group of mates who are equally serious about going. You’ll want to use every group member’s registration number and other details (address and postcode) exactly as they were entered during registration. The system is strict about this—if there’s any mismatch, your group’s tickets could be rejected. A heartbreaking reality.

Coordinate beforehand to agree on the card to cover everyone’s deposit. This card needs enough balance to handle the £75 deposit per person, plus any fees if you’re booking a coach package. It’s worth noting that Glastonbury doesn’t take AMEX and can sometimes reject certain cards, so have a backup payment method if possible. Getting these details right saves valuable time on sale day when every second counts.

Step 3: Find Additional Groups and Set Up a Spreadsheet

At the Pyramid Stage - Glastonbury

One group of six is a good start, but connecting with more groups increases your odds. Some people organize 30-60 people into smaller groups and work together on ticket day. Aim to set up a few smaller groups (six people max), with each person taking responsibility for managing one group’s details. This way, if one person gets through, they can handle tickets for everyone in that group.

To keep track, create a shared spreadsheet with a tab for each group. Include columns for names, postcodes, and registration numbers. Make sure each group member double-checks their details before sale day. Set up a group chat for communication, and assign a color or label to each group to keep things clear. When one group secures tickets, they can join the others in trying for remaining groups. What is the trick to getting Glastonbury tickets? In a word: organisation.

Step 4: Set Up for Sale Day

The crowd watching Fred Again at Glastonbury 2023

On sale day, every detail matters. The new system only puts you in the queue if you’re logged in before sales go live. Be ready at least 10 minutes before the start: that’s 8:50 a.m. for general admission on November 17, and 5:50 p.m. for coach packages on November 14. If you’re online on time, you’ll be assigned a random spot once the sale starts—no refreshing needed. Just log in, sit tight, and let the system do its thing.

Use multiple devices if possible (like a laptop and phone), with one device on Wi-Fi and the other on mobile data. This reduces your chances of getting blocked or slowed down by network congestion. However, with the updated ticketing system, Glastonbury’s anti-bot software can flag you if you’re logged in on too many tabs or devices, potentially lowering your chances. Stick with a single device on Wi-Fi and one on data, and one browser tab on each. And make sure you’re on a reliable connection—office Wi-Fi can work well if available.

When accessing the ticket page, use the direct link (glastonbury.seetickets.com) rather than navigating through the main site, as this can save a bit of time. Once you’re in the queue, wait patiently. Don’t refresh the page or switch tabs—either can move you back in line. I know how tempting it is to hit that refresh button, but this year, patience is essential. Let the queue do its thing.

If you’re lucky enough to make it past the holding page – first of all don’t panic OR start celebrating. Stay calm, relaxed and get through to payment. Make sure to enter everyone’s details accurately. Any errors, even a typo in the registration number, could mean being kicked out of the queue and having your details blocked for a few minutes. Double-check all information before proceeding to payment to ensure you’re not left crying. Don’t start celebrating until you have that coveted confirmation email in your inboxes.

Step 5: Try for Both Ticket Sales

There are actually two chances to buy: November 14 for coach packages at 6 p.m., and November 17 for general admission at 9 a.m. Trying for a coach package can improve your odds since fewer people usually go for it. If it doesn’t work, you’ve got another shot with general admission. Two opportunities, so plan to try both if you’re set on how to get Glastonbury tickets this year.

The best approach for how to get Glastonbury tickets in 2025? Log in early, stay calm, and follow these steps to a tee.

Step 6: After Securing Your Glastonbury Tickets

At the Rabbit Hole - Glastonbury

Got your tickets? Securing Glastonbury tickets in the main sale is a huge win—but don’t celebrate too hard just yet. There are a few crucial things to sort out, or you could be right back to square one.

First, the balance. Glastonbury will email you with a deadline to pay the rest, usually by early April. Miss this, and your ticket goes back into the resale, leaving you scrambling all over again with a lower pool of tickets. Set a reminder, mark your calendar, write it on your hand—whatever it takes to remember. When April rolls around, make sure you’re settled up.

Next, keep an eye on your inbox for updates from Glastonbury HQ. They’ll share any changes about ticket delivery, ID requirements, and important festival access details. Tickets get mailed a few weeks before the festival, so double-check that your delivery address is still correct.

With the essentials sorted, you’re free to plan the fun stuff. Book your travel, sort out what to pack and start dreaming up your ultimate Glastonbury lineup. You can read my full Glastonbury packing list here.

What is the Trick to Getting Glastonbury Tickets?

The girls at The Other Stage Glastonbury

Updated for the new system! Everyone wants to know the trick to getting Glastonbury tickets, but I’m sorry to say there’s no magic hack. Instead, there are smart tactics that help you stay ahead of the crowd and boost your chances. Here’s a rundown of what you can do to increase your odds.

Refresh Strategically. Once you’re in the queue, avoid going overboard with refreshing, as too many refreshes can slow things down or even get you blocked. The site refreshes automatically every 20 seconds, but refreshing manually every 10 seconds is usually safe.

Use the direct link. Another trick is to access the ticket page directly rather than navigating through the main site. Each second counts, so direct access saves you precious time.

Try a VPN or go overseas. If you’re really committed, you could try a VPN. What is the trick to getting Glastonbury tickets? People often report that being outside the UK can improve their odds (anecdotal, but worth a shot). A VPN lets you change your IP address and may help you access different queues. However, results vary, so don’t count on this alone. I tried the 2024 resale from a hotel room in LA, and got no where. I’m putting it down to dodgy public hotel wifi, but it’s anyone’s guess.

Multiple devices. To avoid network congestion, use multiple devices on different connections. Connect one device to Wi-Fi, another to mobile data, and avoid multiple tabs on each device. If you’re working with friends, set them up on their own networks to minimise issues. If you have access to an office or workplace which you know will be quiet, I’d recommend doing this.

Lastly, organization is key. Set up a spreadsheet with your group’s information and have it ready to copy and paste. Double-check everything ahead of time. If you make any mistakes, your whole group’s registration could get locked out.

In the end, though, the best trick to getting Glastonbury tickets is a blend of preparation, persistence, and a little luck.

What Are the Odds of Getting a Glastonbury Ticket?

Arcadia Stage At Glastonbury

The odds of securing a Glastonbury ticket are famously tough. With around 2.5 million people going after 210,000 spots, the chances come out to roughly 8%. This fierce competition means even the best-prepared buyers need a bit of luck

While luck plays a part, being strategic helps. To improve your chances, consider booking a coach package. These have fewer buyers and give you a better shot. Especially, if you select a location that is outside of major cities like London and Manchester. If you’re happy to get there via Southampton or somewhere else, you may have a better shot at securing a ticket.

Don’t forget the resale days in April either; they offer another chance to snag a Glastonbury ticket if you miss out on the main sale.

Is There Any Other Way to Get Glastonbury Tickets?

Lana Del Rey at The Other Stage Glastonbury

Missed out in the sales?

Don’t give up yet—there are other ways to get a Glastonbury ticket. Every year, some tickets become available again in the resale, and competitions offer another shot. Volunteering is also a popular way to experience Glastonbury, with options through organizations like Oxfam or WaterAid. If you’re committed, these alternatives can help make Glastonbury a reality.

Alternative Routes

One of the best options is the resale, which happens in April. During this event, any canceled tickets go back on sale, and demand is still high but lower than the main release. You’ll need your registration number, just like in the main sale, and the process is the same. If you prepare well and try as a group, you’ve got a decent chance.

Competitions are another way to get tickets, though they’re a bit more of a long shot. Each year, various radio stations, such as BBC Radio 1, run giveaways for Glastonbury tickets. Some online sites and magazines also offer ticket competitions, especially in the months leading up to the festival. To increase your chances, set alerts to stay updated on competition openings. I know someone who nabbed two tickets to 2023 through a BBC Radio 1 phone in – so it’s worth a shot!

Is there any other way to get Glastonbury tickets that lets you be part of the festival while giving back? Yes—volunteering. Many festival-goers opt to volunteer through organizations like Oxfam, WaterAid, and Greenpeace. Roles include stewarding, managing wristbands, and other essential tasks. Oxfam, for example, offers positions that require a few shifts, usually with free time to enjoy the festival in between. These roles fill up fast, so check early and stay alert for openings, which typically go live around February or March. Peequal also offers volunteer roles at Glastonbury focused on managing female urinals, helping with crowd flow, and maintaining cleanliness. Sign up on their website to get notified when volunteer spots open—these fill up very quickly!

Is there any other way to get Glastonbury tickets beyond these options? Only if you’re creative! Sometimes, networking can lead to ticket opportunities through artists or media publications. While not guaranteed, these options give you a shot at experiencing the festival and might even make the experience more rewarding for you.

How Quickly Does Glastonbury Sell Out?

Sunset at The Pyramid Stage

Glastonbury tickets sell out fast. With millions trying for just over 200,000 spots, the ticket-buying experience is intense. In recent years, general admission tickets have sold out in under an hour, often even faster.

In 2024, Glastonbury tickets sold out in under an hour, and in 2020, they were gone in just 33 minutes. One unusual year was 2011, where tickets took four hours to sell out due to a Jay-Z boycott, but typically, sell-outs happen fast. In most years, the mad rush begins at 9 a.m., and within 20-30 minutes, tickets vanish. The high-speed sellout is why preparation, from registration to a reliable internet connection, is key.

For the best chance, log in 10-15 minutes early and have all group details ready. Avoid multiple tabs and devices on the same Wi-Fi to prevent connectivity issues. Staying calm is crucial—if you reach the payment page, enter everything carefully. Any typo could get you kicked out, and those few seconds could mean the difference between attending and missing out.

Final Tips for Securing Glastonbury Tickets

Sunset at Glastonbury

The Glastonbury ticket process is intense, but you’ll improve your chances by staying organized and keeping a cool head. Here are my top three tips for success:

Prepare Everything in Advance. Registration, payment info, and group details should all be set up well before ticket day. Create a shared spreadsheet with your group’s information and double-check everything. Prepping this way saves time and cuts out last-minute errors.

Stay Calm and Focused. If you reach the ticket page, stay calm. Enter all details carefully—any typo can kick you out of the queue. Double-check your entries, but don’t take too long; speed still counts.

Keep Trying Until the End. The main sale isn’t your only shot. Go for coach packages, then try the April resale if you need to. Consider volunteering as a last resort—it’s still a great way to experience Glastonbury.

With the right prep and persistence, you’re giving yourself the best shot at those Glastonbury tickets. Good luck and see you on the farm!
